After a long conversation between Jonathan’s and Hadas’s parents , it was decided that Jonathan would stay with Hadas for a few days at the beginning of their visit to Israel . Jonathan was very excited about the trip and kept trying to imagine meeting Hadas for the first time . What would he say ? How would she react ? Does she really look like her forum picture ? Would they be able to understand each other ? From the moment Hadas invited him , Jonathan went over and over his vocabulary lists from Hebrew school . Hadas also tried to improve her English to prepare for Jonathan’s visit . Throughout the long flight from the United States to Israel , Jonathan couldn’t sleep at all . He browsed through his small English-Hebrew dictionary until he finally heard the stewardess say on the loud speaker , “ Please return to your seats and fasten your seat belts as we prepare to land at Ben Gurion Airport . " Meeting at Last After landing and getting their baggage , Jonathan and his family went to the reception area where their cousins ran to greet them . They hugged each other , thrilled to be together again . Jonathan was very happy to see them and hugged them back , but at the same time kept searching the crowd of people . Where was Hadas ? Suddenly , he saw her big smile and Hadas came walking towards him . “ Hey , Jonathan , welcome to Israel ! ” she said in heavily accented English . ( Great to meet you !) answered Jonathan , pleased to use the expression he had practiced so many times . They were both relieved to see that they were able to communicate with each other , using a unique combination of English , Hebrew , gestures and smiles . Jonathan was quiet all the way to Jerusalem , just looking out of the window . He seemed almost hypnotized . “ I’m in shock ! I still can’t believe I’m here , ” he explained to Hadas . “ Everything’s in Hebrew , even the signs ... ” “ H-e-l-l-o !! Jonathan ... this is Israel ! Remember ?! We speak Hebrew here ?!! ” laughed Hadas . Jonathan went quiet again and Hadas let him just take in the view . When they arrived at her house , Hadas asked Jonathan : “ So , how are you feeling now ? Are you ready to talk ? ” “ Yes , ” laughed Jonathan . “ I’m sorry . I was just so excited . ”
