REMINDER : Students are not expected to read the written word . Instructional Comics . 2 The comics are found in Parts 3 and 6 of each unit, under the Learn Tab . They introduce the target vocabulary through a short story linked to the country and backstory, similar to a stop motion movie . The video moves from frame to frame, with empty pop - up speech bubbles to help the students understand who is speaking . Play the Instructional Comics . At the start of the comics, ask questions about what students see on the screen . Pause the video periodically to ask students questions and confirm understanding . Play the comics more than once to have students hear the language structures again . During the second viewing, have the students raise their hands when they hear a familiar word . Student Book Each new vocabulary lesson is followed by two pages of individual practice in the Student Book . TIP * Repeat the names of the activities out loud to students as you work on them . Students * will not only be exposed to the words, they will also identify these words globally, recognizing them at a glance . Activity Extensions : Show the pictures again and see if students can name the pictures prior to the • audio . Have students close their eyes and click on a random item .
