In order to solve our environmental problems , we need to decide which energy sources to use – such as coal , oil and wind . Making these decisions involves economic , political , safety , security and environmental considerations . For example , a great deal of effort and money is being invested in using energy in ways that are environmentally-friendly , such as using the wind , Sun or sea , as energy sources . Using these sources does not harm our natural environment . In this unit , you will learn about different energy types , transformations from one energy type to another , the transfer of energy from one object to object , and the use of energy to satisfy human needs . You will learn about important processes related to energy , and to talk in “ the language of energy . ” You can learn not only by reading about energy but also by engaging in experiments and interacting with computer simulations .
