I wanted to become a journalist because I thought it was a way to have an interesting and useful life . I wanted to see the world and do something that I felt was important . I worked for a newspaper for many years . Then I decided to go into television journalism because I felt like I needed a new challenge . So , I changed media . B In all media , the job ofthe journalist is essentially the same . We have to dig for interesting stories . When you are covering a story you have to talk to as many people as possible . You need to get a complete picture of a situation . However , in television , there are elements that you don't have to deal with when you are writing for a newspaper . For example , you have to consider how you look , how you sound . You have to get used to focusing on how to present your story to the viewers . Prepare — that's the key word . Whether on television or for the newspaper , find out as much as you can about the life and interests of the person you are going to interview . The more you know , the better the interview will go . Each new story presents a whole new set of challenges and obstacles . The word "news" includes the word "new . "As journalists , we look for the " new" in every story . I always enjoy the challenge of interviewing people and finding a way to connect with even the most difficult people . I really love my work .
