The Jungle Boy Adapted from the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling ( 1894 ) Mowgli is a boy . He lives in the jungle with wild animals . He sleeps outside under the trees and plays in the river . Mowgli hears many strange noises, but he is not scared * . He runs, climbs, and learns . He wants to find out who lives in the jungle . Bagheera is a black panther . He teaches * Mowgli jungle lessons . First, Bagheera says, “Listen ! Do you hear that noise ? Something is moving * . ” Mowgli watches . He sees a snake in the tall grass . Next, Bagheera says, “Look at the ground . When it's dirty or broken * , an elephant walks there . Be careful – elephants do not stop . ” Then, Bagheera says, “Watch the monkeys . They are fast and loud, but they do not listen to me . ” Mowgli smiles . “I want to learn all about the jungle ! ” he says . Bagheera answers, “You are a smart boy .
