Grauman ' s ( now Mann's ) Chinese Theater , in Hollywood , is perhaps the most famous movie theater in the world . Here you can find hand and footprints of movie stars . The theater was built in 1 926 , and from the outside , it looks like a giant red Chinese pagoda . Stars have been honored since 1927 by putting their hand and footprints in cement at the entrance to the theater . The idea came from actress Norma Talmadge , who accidentally stepped in the wet cement when the theater was being built . Today , you can find the imprints of over 200 famous people . Arnold Schwarzenegger even left the message , "I'll be back !" The Hollywood Walk of Fame passes by Mann's Theater . The first star was placed on February 9 , 1 960 , for Joanne Woodward , a film and theater actress .
