This means that companies must find different ways of solving problems . In order to do this , workers must begin to think creatively . Many experts believe that there is a connection between humor and creativity . For example , a study at Tel Aviv University showed that people who listened to a humorous recording did better on a creativity test than those who did not listen to the recording . Another study showed that after students had listened to some jokes they could solve problems more easily . How does humor encourage creative thinking ? When we are feeling stressed or depressed , we are often so focused on the problem that it is difficult for us to see a solution . Humor reduces the pressure we feel . This makes it easier for us to accept new ideas . We also have to think creatively to understand jokes . For example , we often need to find some new unexpected meaning in order to make sense of a joke . Professor Ziv of Tel Aviv University believes that humor makes us move away from the usual way of looking at things . Many companies have begun to open problem-solving meetings with a joke to relax people and get them thinking creatively . Perhaps in the future companies may even introduce humor training programs for their workers .
