Children ' s Games 1 Read the definition of each of the games below . Which of the games are still played today ? Discuss with a partner . The Encyclopedia or Games Children ' s Games Hide-and-seek — one player covers his or her eyes while the other players hide , then the player who covered his or her eyes tries to find the others . Jump rope —a game played with a rope ; two players swing the rope while someone jumps over it . Knucklebones —a game in which a player % throws five or six stones and picks them up while bouncing a small ball . Marbles —a game played with 14 little balls made of a hard material ( such as glass ); players put 13 marbles in the center of a circle . Each player throws one marble ( the "shooter" ) and tries to knock a marble out of the circle . Tag —a child ' s game in which one player ( "it" ) chases the others and tries to touch one ofthem , making that person "it . " Tug-of-war —a contest in which two teams pull opposite ends of a rope ; the team that crosses the central line loses .
