Exploring Memory Section Task : Get Ready Designing a memory game One of the most important functions of our brain is to store and organize information . In this section , you will design a memory game based on strategies that improve memory . How good is your memory ? 1 Read about the three basic types of memory to find out about the function and purpose of each . Sensory Memory records what we feel , see and hear and processes this information in the brain . First impressions are "checked " through sensory memory and then moved into short-term memory . Example : Recognition of faces and objects Short-term Memory , or "working memory , " holds information in the brain for a short time only — just long enough to perform some task . Looking up a telephone number and recalling it for long enough to dial it Long-term Memory holds information that has is been processed and saved . Information is stored here after repeated use . This is how we remember past events or experiences .
