2 Speakers often use role cards in preparation for a role-play . Look at the role card for the member of the Green group and , with a partner , discuss how well she played her role using the criteria in the checklist that follows . Role Card for : Member of a Green group WHO YOU ARE ? You belong to the eco-action group called "Planet Watch . " ? You live in White Sands and are very concerned about the ecological damage being caused by fish-farming . ? You have researched the problem and you have information showing that White Sands is facing an ecological disaster . WHAT YOU MUST SAY You must present your point of view using facts that clearly show the connection between the problem and the fish-farming . HOW YOU MUST SAY IT Speak with authority . Although you feel strongly about the issue , keep calm and be polite . Role-play Checklist ? Presented the information clearly . ? Explained the source of the problem in a suitable way . ? Spoke convincingly . ? Was calm and polite without backing down . 3 Choose one of the other roles and prepare a suitable role card . You can use the above role card as a model . Putting It Together Discuss one of the following questions . a What responsibility do we have , as individuals , in preventing environmental problems ? & How can different groups in society help prevent continued environmental damage ?
