Link to Language : Adjectives We use adjectives to describe people , animals , or things . Examples : In China , the snake is a wise animal . In Western culture , horses are hardworking and strong animals . 1 Read the fable below and notice how adjectives are used to describe the animals . The lion was the king of all the animals . He was not a mean or terrible king . He was brave and gentle and all the animals loved him . One day , the lion called all the animals to a meeting and told them that there was a new law in the kingdom . "All animals will now live together in peace and friendship . The wolf and the lamb , the cat and the bird , the tiger and the deer , the fox and the rabbit — all will now be good friends and help each other . " The rabbit said , "Oh , I am so happy .
