עמוד:11

This is exactly what happened to me when I moved to Israel . My family owned a pure-bred , Rough-Coated Collie . We raised her from a puppy . We were the only family she remembered and we loved her . No , we will not have any other dog . Giving up my dog was — for me — the hardest part of our big move . Weeks before I left , I would start to cry when I thought of leaving without her . Even now , one year later , I still dream about her at night , coming to me wagging her tail , so happy to see me . Whenever I see a Collie , I can't help thinking about the pet I left behind . What I wouldn't do to put my arms around her again ! 4 What hurts the most is when people say : "Oh , you can get a new one , " as if she were an old shirt that you throw away and then buy a new one . I know these people don't mean to be insensitive . They don't realize how much their words hurt . I just want them to know that the bond between pet and pet owner can grow very strong , especially if the pet is raised from a baby . Maybe if people think about this , they will be more understanding . I ' m not asking for much . I just want them to be a bit more sensitive to the feelings of pet owners . A pet really is a part of the family .
