Further questions 1 . Try to think of another research question about the pendulum experiment and then formulate a hypothesis based on this research question . Plan an experiment to verify the hypothesis , using the equipment at your disposal and additional equipment , if needed . 3 . Describe some kind of scenario regarding your results . If these are indeed the results obtained , what will your conclusion be ? Experiment C : A bouncing ball Objective : To observe and analyze the transformations of energy in a bouncing basketball . Equipment : A basketball . Procedure : Raise the basketball up high , and release it . The ball falls to the floor . When it hits the floor it is compressed and then it rises again until it reaches its peak , as depicted in the following illustrations : Result : Describe the energy transformations that took place from the moment the ball was released until it rose again , returning to its peak . Summary : The energy transformations may be described using an energy diagram . In this case , it is more complex than that of the pendulum . Ball at its peak . Ball raised prior to its release . Ball midway , rising . Ball midway , falling . Ball on the floor , compressed .
